A handle is a handle, is it not?

The kitchen has begun - it was chaos here this morning. Yay! Kitchen dude assured me I didn't have to make a decision on handles/knobs until this week. But I get a text today at work "I've left a book at your place for you to choose your handles. It would be great if I could order them tomorrow" - um, what the?! I've been pouring over handles for months, and now you have given me a book of about 300 handles and you want me to choose ONE, by tomorrow!?!?!

So I think I'm going to end up with something like the above - Not my ideal handle, but will suit the kitchen. Except for that really long handle on the big cupboard on the left. Bit OTT. So, Oui?

BTW, subway tile per above photo = my splash back.

Oh, and now that the kitchen is barely underway, I'm planning the renovation of the bathroom... no rest for the wicked (note to self - buy the winning ticket in the lottery this week)

I'm so afraid of choosing the wrong handles..., so I haven't chosen any! (5 years with none!)

Good luck with yours!

I'm sorry but I'm buying the winning lottery ticket today...... okay, we'll share. :) Once upon a time, I thought that picking handles would be an easy decision until I told my parents to replace their kitchen handles (brown plastic!!!) My stepdad spent a FORTUNE on a 'wave' style chrome set & I had to take a deep gulp, smile & say they were lovely, lol. It's amazing how good (or bad) such a small detail can make an area look. Ummmm... no pressure, lol. Good luck! :)

How exciting though, I completely understand. And I love this kitchen too. I too am going to have subway tiles as my backsplash - I LOVE! Can't wait to see pics of your new kitchen :)

sooo jealous of your kitchen reno (well, i will be when it's finished... i couldn't stand to be kitchen-less for any period of time!) i love the kitchen in the picture, and must say that the long handles are probably for big deep drawers or doors that in some way come straight out at you - the long handles are actually useful (my mom has the same ones in her kitchen). i'm sure whatever you choose will be fabulous, and don't worry if you feel rushed, handles are super easy to switch up later!

I'm new to your blog (I just saw this post on Shelter's blog roll). I JUST went through this decision -- I ended up with a mix of Restoration Hardware pulls, including Aubrey, Bistro knobs and Gilmore bin pulls. Good luck! (btw, I think those super-big pulls on the left are fridge pulls. That's the one pull I *can't* find for my kitchen still!)

P.S. Have the planned overseas holiday funds been channelled into this project Miss K?

How exciting! Congrats on getting a whole new kitchen. I love the photo you posted. I particularly love the light. Most people save the 'nice' lighting for the dining room but that light looks fantastic in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing.
