um, yum...

Button biscuits - too cute! Reminds me of the cake my mum made me last year. Not coping all that well with turning 30 and not wanting to have any sort of celebration, we had a 'family gathering' (rather than a 'party') and absolutely refusing a 'birthday cake' she made my favourite banana cake, in a ring tin, covered in chocolate icing, scattered with haighs chocolate buds and surrounded by a fabulous collection of brown buttons she asked family members to bring - I had a 'brown button' cake to celebrate the birth of my little shop, Brown Button Trading. Bit lucky I am. x

Sounds like a lovely cake - and not even out of the Women's Weekly Birthday Cake Book! Those biscuits look yummy too - you have made me feel like baking instead of doing the ironing. Shame!!!

honey, like i've told you before....i am sure (?!) the dirty 30's are seriously great. you have the wisdom gained in your 20's to grab life by both hands and you're still pretty enough in your 30's to be noticed (by men and women alike)!!!!!! ha ha ha! really though, welcome in those 30's, you, my friend, have plenty of great moments awating you. embrace it! xxx

What a sweet idea for your birthday.. I was 30 last year too and was dreading it, but was outvoted on the party idea! I had a 'winter wonderland' theme and 30 cupcakes with snowflakes on top... all thanks to my mum! Gotta love them xoxo

Lucky you having such a lovely Mum! Looking back at 30, I wish I appreciated being 30 so much more. I am sure I will look back at 43, when I am 80 and wish the same thing! A-M xx

I'm pleased your Mum took no notice of the 'no birthday cake' rule and went ahead and made one anyway! And how cute are those button biscuits! They have your name written all over them. xx
