wishing you...

a happy, safe, joyous, blessed, memorable, delicious and fun filled Christmas. Thank you for the best gift I've received ever, your visits to my little bloggy blog, brown button. Seriously, it seriously rocks my roundabout! It's been the bestest ever thing for me and so fabulous to meet you all. I'll miss you while I'm away, seriously. Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Enjoy the holidays with your loved ones - mwah! xxx

I'm going on a summer holiday.

One more sleep and I'll be in Noosa, where I plan to spend 10 days doing a little bit of this and not a lot of that. About 30 people make up the "Smith" side of the family and every two years we 'invade' Noosa for our Christmas get together, this year we will spend New Years together as well. Needless to say, I can't wait - there are even two little bubbas born this year I'm yet to meet, one being this precious bundle in the photo above. My cousin and her husband's little girl looks just delicious, can't wait to give her a squishy hug.
Soooooooo, happy holidays my darlings, back in the New Year, see you then! xxx

A Tres Dodgeois Friendly Christmas....

A 'pine tree free' Christmas tree post is the least I can do after an awesome night out Pippa put on earlier in the week. You see, lil miss tres dodgeois ain't no fan of the 'evil pine tree'- see here and here. So I thought I'd share a few genius ideas from the latest Donna Hay Magazine. Pretty and Pink - this tree has been made using 10cm strips of folded coloured paper inserted through the cracks of a bamboo matchstick blind spray painted white.
Fairly self explanatory this one - ladder, planks of wood, candles = cool pine needle free kick arse Christmas tree.

We interupt these Christmas posts with an important movie message....

The message is simple - slumdog millionaire is AWESOME!!! Like up there as one of the best movies I have ever seen. Go see it. Please. Tell me what you think. Or have you already seen it? Wasn't it awesome? - Nominated for Golden Globe awards and everything.
And what made the movie even better? - free tickets! ( especially in Christmas present buying season). Pip even packed us the best ever picnic dinner to eat while in the movies - complete with napkins and mini table cloths for our laps. She even bought cans of pepsi max, my favourite non alcoholic beverage. We ate falafel, tabouli and char grilled zucchini wraps and to freshen our breath afterwards? a packet of junior mints each. Off to cibo afterwards for coffee - the perfect night. Thanks pipsicle!! x

Packed to Perfection

Stunning styling from UK's Country Living Magazine - I know, I know - lazy old me hasn't really looked far and wide for Christmas pretties this week. But lucky for me the mags I have had some scrumptious stuff when it comes to Christmas. I'd like to imagine myself living in Europe somewhere, packing a suitcase like the one in the first image to head off to a winter wonderland to celebrate Christmas with my nearest and dearest. Lucky for me I do get to spend my Christmas this year with my nearest and dearest but something tells me tropical Noosa isn't the right place for berets, wraps and suede pumps (5 sleeps and counting til we fly out, not that I'm counting or anything...) x

Fresh Festive Ideas

More beautiful ideas from Home Beautiful's 2007 December issue. Simple, fresh and festive. Herbs and Australian flora used to decorate - surprisingly stunning. x

Christmas, with a capital "C" for colour.

Colour is my favourite decorating style, something that I have only felt comfortable with and accepted in the last year. I've always loved the white scandy look but always come home to colour. From the pages of UK's Country Living last December I found these gorgeous images of simple yet effective use of colour whilst still capturing the traditions of Christmas.
too cute to unwrap!
B for Brown Button....
gorgeous little advent cones
fabulous wrapping ideas.....hmmm before I get too carried away with the wrapping, perhaps I should go and buy the presents first......
Love a Christmas bon-bon. One year I'll make my own, one year....

Cozy Christmas Cottage

berry wreath on a blue door, berry nice. Warm and inviting space to sit and celebrate Christmas with family and friends.
A feast in the making.
I so wanted a Christmas tree like this one this year but it didn't happen. Christmas just comes up faster and faster each year!
These images are how I picture a very traditional Christmas, maybe even like where Mr and Mrs Claus spend their 'down time'....

Knock, Knock....

I've always had a soft spot for a good wreath. These pretties were in British Homes and Gardens Christmas 2007 issue. I think you would be guaranteed of chic Christmas cheer in the homes that had one of these hanging on their front door.

Christmas - Aussie Style

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a White Christmas, but here in Australia the only thing that is white at Christmas time is the sand and the colour of the wine I'm quaffing over lunch - It's really difficult to find good images of an Aussie Christmas, and whilst the only image in this set that is really and truly Christmas-y is the first one - I wanted to share this shoot from the Australian Country Style Magazine's current issue - they capture some of the ambiance that is summer and the festive season in Oz, enjoy! xx

Attempting to harness my inner Martha...

I'm attending a "Christmas, Cupcakes and Champagne Evening" this evening and I figured I'd get in the Christmas spirit and make some Christmas Cupcakes as seen in the latest Donna Hay Magazine...... They weren't a complete disaster, but if you want the recipe, and a pic of what they are supposed to look like, grab the latest Donna Hay Magazine and flick to page 198. The Cupcake Company I am most certainly not....
I couldn't have done it however, without Chef Ruby Dooby, her licking of the beaters after the mixture was made was culinary genius and the cupcakes seriously wouldn't have risen without her expertise.....

Wanting to escape...

I don't know about you, but I'm seriously hanging out for the Christmas break. I didn't manage to take any serious time off away from work this year and it's starting to take its toll, I know - only a couple of weeks to go. I'm looking forward to spending some serious "K" time amidst the chaos that is Christmas to indulge in some good magazines. What do you look forward to doing in your own time?
Nick Scott Photographer - Loving these images from his site. x
