A Pencil into a Speedboat? - The Macgyver Table

As my 5 disc set of the complete fourth season of Macgyver cover states "Macgyver is able to make use of any mundane materials around him to create unorthodox solutions to any problem he faces"...(the disc set was a gift from Emma after we named a guy I had 'relations with' Macgyver....) - Someone over at wikipedia with wayyyy too much time on their hands have detailed EVERY problem the Mac man solved, in every episode, of every season of the show. Emma had her own Macgyver moment when she found an old bookcase whilst out, as she would call it "searching under old dirty mattresses in second hand shops looking for a gem". She took one look at the book case and thought what would Macgyver do?? That's right! - he would turn it into a coffee table! And hence the bookcase/coffee table was born. It's been mine for a while now (ok, on loan...) and has had two coats of paint whilst with me. Emma had it a beautiful Tiffany Blue there for a while until one dinner party I defaced it with a glass of red, by accident of course. Excuse the carpet in my lounge room. It is vile beyond belief and the only reason I still have it is because I haven't chosen what carpet to lay yet - i'll be asking for help on that later this week please! (the final straw was kicking a glass of red along the ground the other night while running for the phone - see it in the bottom right hand corner - oh and it splashed all up the side of my white slip cover sofa. nice. PS - This post is for you ness over at Marley & Lockyer, I give you the book case/coffee table! x

I did not know you had MacGyver! How did I not know this? I loved him. I feel a Macgyver marathon coming on...

MacGyver is the MAN! I hope you realise that my last US dollars in Timor were spent on that set of DVD's - because of him, I had to cry to get through with excess luggage because I was a broke ass!!!! Worth it though! And I am so glad the coffee table is still standing - it definitely has weathered a few red wine storms... xx

It is great. I love it. I would love to go "under old matress shopping" with Emma. My Mum finds gems that way when everyone else just complains about the smell!!

Pip - um, i've never actually watched an episode.....how bad is that.

Ness - thanks! I'm ALWAYS the one complaining about the smell - I usually profit from Emma's finds when she moves house, overseas or interstate! Dining chairs are from ikea and couch is from my most favouritest (a word?!) shop in the world just down the street from me. It's second hand. I really want to do a post on the shop but have to pluck up the courage to ask the owners first, and they scare me a bit!
