I know this sounds tragic because it was only a movie - but I still can't quite put into words how much I LOVED SATC the movie. I don't know about you - but I can often watch something that hits me so deep my chest aches, sometimes with pain, sometimes with happiness, sometimes with love, sometimes with sadness. Not necessarily because I can relate to the actual event, but I know the feeling, the emotion that is being portrayed. I know this scene in the movie seems a weird one to choose as my favourite of the film, but it was. My chest ached like it had never ached before. And when Charlotte wraps up Carrie in her arms to console her, to protect and shield her, and Big reaches out to Carrie and Charlotte says "NO". - I thought my heart was going to pound right out of my chest. Friendship at its best x

I agree - this was definitely the standout scene of this movie for me. I was expecting Carrie to run over to Big and say "what's going on? We can do this" etc etc and then they'd go back to the church and get married. And yes, Charlotte's protectiveness of Carrie was quite emotional wasn't it. I can't wait to watch this movie again... perhaps in the privacy of my own home!
most fantastic movie ever! :-) ive even started watching the series again.. and almost finished the etire 6 in a matter of weeks! love love love it! xx
Okay I am prepared for hateful responses...I hated that movie. I thought the acting was pretty poor, the script was lacking the spark of the series and I cannot believe she took him back ...again. But like you referenced, the only moment I loved was Charlotte's NO. Quite simply because of all the girls, she was the least likely to be that assertive. Otherwise I felt like I lost two hours of my life.
Ohhh dear, WhoJackman...I am mortified at your comments. I am very interested to know if you were actually a "fan" of the show or whether you just watched it when it was on TV at a suitable time slot for you?
Anyone who is a loyal, dedicated - and could even be described as totally obsessed - fan of SATC would know, that the movie was absolutely perfect and it could never have ended any other way. This movie was an ideal portrayal and summary of the friendships, love affairs, lifestyles and adventures of my fictional best friends....Charlotte, Carrie, Miranda and Samantha. The scene that Kimberlee is describing is one of the most heart wrenching displays in cinematic history, and it should not be down played by a wanna be fan who obviously does not understand the complexities of these characters.
Wow - I just got angry, sorry about that.
I loved this scene too - easily my favourite!
And yeah, I loved the movie too... but that's cool if some people didn't - how boring would the world be if we were all the same!
PS also laughed my arse off at the 'break up' between Miranda and Carrie... and was it just me or was Carrie being a bit tough blaming Miranda on her fiance leaving her at the altar because of one throwaway comment??
whoa - you go girls! I love it! - happy for everyone to share their opinion - i'm a SATC die hard fan, those girls ARE my best friends so I tend to agree with anon. (and I have a fair idea who you are!...) on this one, but good on you whojackman for having your say - valid points as well! x
i bet i know who anon is too...
Anon. Does that mean that the only way someone could enjoy that movie is if they were an "obsessive" SATC show fan? Movies should be accessible despite tv show viewership. And yes I did watch the show and no I wasn't obsessive. Perhaps I am a little more objective in my less-than-obessive and less angry state? That being said I am a bit of a movie fanatic and I would much prefered to see something with a stronger script like the tv show (it was missing a little of the bite).
And I have no problem saying who I am. WhoJackman = Adele
Back to the blog, keep up the great work Kimberlee I love dropping by.
I still need therapy from that infamous scene. Sigh...
I just noticed Miranda's dress... she has a... ridge?
She's like a blue stegasaurus.

still love it.
I think Anon (the first) needs to.... chill.
And WhoJackman needs to.... chill.
Never watched one episode of SATC, ever.. promise (too late for me... 2 littlies at the time and I needed my sleep) but I LOVED the movie. That scene... and Charlotte... I want her to be my best friend... LOVED it! My friend sitting next to me in the cinema, reached over and grabbed my arm as if to say 'I would do that for you too my friend'... special moment. A-M xx
i loved it
i know exactly what you are talking about - that feeling in your chest as you watched that scene. i had the same feeling - as though it would just collapse. it was so well done and when Charlotte said NO i actually laughed a little bit through my tears. because i was seriously boo hoo'ing through that scene.
I can 100% relate to the feeling of Carrie and Charlotte. You could actually FEEL their pain. You could also feel the love between the girls. The way Carrie falls into Charlotte's arms for protection and security...it's the purest form of love and acceptance. That's the key to the show. The men may come and go, but the bond between the women is untouchable. It's like in the last episode of the season when Big was talking to Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte in the coffee shop and said "You are the loves of her life. A man is lucky to come in second."
I could go on for days about the series and the movie! Someone stop me! LOL
If anyone left me at the alter I would never speak to them again, same as if my husband cheated on me. But then again, this is Hollywood and it has to have a happy ending otherwise we would all be dissapointed. Not very realistic though.
oh heather - i totally agree - i love that line - you are the loves of my life - any man is lucky to come in second! - horray for that!
my favourite scene too kimmy, i think i sobbed out loud in the theatre at Charlottes no. Cant say I loved it tho, not the most positive message to be putting out to obsessed fans and younguns who are just finding out about SATC and men- keep getting flogged and trampled on coz maybe just maybe it will work out in the end?
